The centre and the staff

The Trento Proton Therapy Centre is a highly specialized facility that is dedicated to treating tumours through the use of sophisticated and innovative technology: proton therapy.

This type of radiation therapy uses a beam of protons to irradiate diseased tissue. Its primary advantage is that it manages to precisely direct the radiation onto the tumour cells, saving healthy tissues and organs.

The Proton Therapy Centre began its clinical activity in October 2014 and is one of the operating units at the Hospital of Trento as part of the Department of Oncology .  Since it has cutting edge machinery, it performs research and development activities, which also involve non-medical experimental sectors, along with the tumour care activity.
